What was supposed to be a fun event last month in Mobile, Alabama that featured New Orleans Saints Nick Fairley and the R&B group, Jagged Edge, turned out to be anything but. It all went down at the Grand Marshal’s Ball in Mobile, which is Fairley’s hometown, back on February 24th.
Fairley was the Grand Marshal of the ball but didn’t seem to understand that the entire show wasn’t about him. Jagged Edge was hired as the entertainment and when Fairley refused to get off stage, the group didn’t hold back saying, “Get your big ass off the stage.”
They eventually became so frustrated with how he was acting, they walked off.
Things almost got really bad towards the end of that clip as some of Fairley’s family members reportedly went after the group. One of them was heard yelling into a microphone, “F*ck Jagged Edge.”
It felt like Fairley was just feeling like too much of a star in his hometown and couldn’t be humble enough to fall back from the spotlight of the night when it wasn’t about him. The people in attendance came to see Jagged Edge and plenty of people were yelling for him to get off the stage so the group could continue and he still didn’t budge and in fact taunted them instead by waving.
At the end of the day though, none of this will matter. Hopefully for the Saints, Fairley stays away from off the field nonsense.
