March 9,1997, Christopher Wallace (Biggie Smalls) was shot and killed in a Los Angeles drive-by. At the time, Smalls was sitting in a Chevy Suburban. This was the night Big was leaving the Soul Train Awards.
Complex reported three years ago that a retired officer by the name of Wardell Fouse—a.k.a Darnell Bolton a.k.a. “Pooch,” was the one who pulled the trigger. It was also reported that he received $13,000 for committing the murder.
In a interview done by Voletta Wallace spoke on her son’s death. She says,
“I have a very good idea who murdered Christopher and I genuinely believe that the LAPD know exactly who did too.As a family, we’ve collectedly grieved and it doesn’t ever get any better for us. They’ve done their investigation, but they just refuse to move forward. I don’t know why they haven’t arrested who was involved. It seems to me that it’s one giant conspiracy, and someone is definitely being protected somewhere down the line.”
Diddy and Shug Knight’s role in the murder was always questioned. There were also many conspiracy theories around the case. Ms. Wallace went on to say,
“It hurts me every single day to know what happened to Christopher and that I won’t see him ever again.”
She states that the family has “collectedly grieved and it doesn’t ever get any better for us.”
“When it comes to the anniversary of the passing of his death, I don’t really like to talk about it.I know there will be a few tributes in honor of Christopher, and that’s great he’s still remembered, but it’s very tough for me and my family.”
