The saga involving Charles Oakley and Knicks owner James Dolan appears to have lit a fire in Oakley, as it was announced today that he would be joining the “Big 3” league, which is scheduled to start in June.

Oakley agreed to join the league this week, which is founded by Ice Cube and will consist of 3-on-3 basketball with mainly former NBA players.
At the age of 53, it’s hard to see Oakley actually getting in some playing time and he will more like just coach the team consisting of Chauncey Billups and Stephen Jackson. The duo will add additional players later on.
“Charles Oakley is an NBA legend, who deserves and has earned respect, and will get just that in our league,” Ice Cube said.
The league is scheduled to start play over the summer and will feature other well-known ex-NBA players, including Allen Iverson, Jermaine O’Neal, Rashard Lewis, Jason Williams, Latrell Sprewell and Ricky Davis.
Oakley recently said he can’t respect any former Knicks players who sat beside Dolan this week and one of them was Sprewell, so it will be fun to see when those guys and their teams face each other.
