Russell Simmons and Donald Trump are both successful business men in NYC, and had developed a close friendship over the years of crossing paths. However, that went out the window when Trump became President and turned into someone that Russell no longer knew.
“We haven’t been friends since the day he announced,” Russell tells the Daily News. “I said, ‘I’d rather Kim Kardashian be President.’ So he called the office and that was the end of our friendship. I didn’t pick the phone up.”

Russell also wrote Trump an open letter in 2015, asking him to “stop the bullsh*t,” seemingly in an attempt to salvage over 30 years of friendship.
“I was with him on his first date with Melania,” Russell added to the Daily News. “We were friends for many years.”
He also revealed that he is currently planning the tactics he will incorporate in a “resistance” he looks to coordinate against some of the policies that Trump has on the table.
