Just about every sports publication covered Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem as he protested against racism, oppression, and police brutality against black people, but only a very SMALL few are covering the work in the community that he promised to do. Many athletes have begun speaking out about societal issues, but Kaepernick kept his word and put his money and time where his mouth is.
In addition to the money given out in his Million Dollar Pledge (all which he’s publicly tracking on his website), Kaepernick also spent the first day of the offseason going to shelters and orphanages to donate a variety of materials. He passed along books, clothing, bedding, and more. The Know Your Rights Camp Instagram account has a couple videos from the day.
