We all know Michael Jordan’s money stacks higher than the Freedom tower but just how high does he rank outside of the sports world? A few weeks ago Forbes listed Jordan as the richest athlete of all time, claiming he earned $1.7 billion dollars in his years as an athlete, endorser and pitchman, which placed him ahead of Tiger Woods at $1.65 billion and Arnold Palmer at $1.35 billion respectively. When you take the sports element out of the equation however, the GOAT is still among the richest people in the country.

The new Forbes list, which was limited to entertainers of all sorts, placed Jordan at fourth with a worth of $1.2 billion dollars. What you’re worth is different compared to what you earned, which is why the two numbers are different in regards to him.
When you learn that his fourth place position comes behind only Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, it makes perfect sense.
His key source at this point is of course the Jordan Brand, which does around $2.8 billion in sales annually. With Nike wanting to make Jordan Brand even bigger and get it to $4.5 billion in sales by 2020 then it’s very fair to assume that Jordan will someday be on top of this list as well.
