Draymond Green has become that annoying athlete that you know is good at what he does but you still can’t stand him. He routinely finds a way to make himself the center of attention, rather it be for his antics on the court or for the crap he’s always talking. Case in point would be a fake beef he created out of thin air with the Knicks young star, Kristaps Porzingis.

The Warriors defeated the Knicks with relative ease last night, winning by a score of 103-90. The Knicks played without Carmelo and Derrick Rose so they really needed a big game from Porzingis if they were going to be competitive. KP gave Draymond Green alot of respect this week in the lead up to the game, saying things like “he’s one of the top defenders in the league” and how it was going to be a real challenge to go against him, especially since he played “really well defensively” when the teams met twice last year. He ended it by saying he was looking forward to going against Green and was “ready for him”.
Now all of that sounds like a bunch of compliments from KP to Green right? Well for some strange reason, Draymond took his comments as a sign of disrespect and it “pissed him off”.
“My Nike rep, Adrian [Stelly], showed me something on the sideline like two minutes right before the game tipped off that kind of pissed me off and made me want to go a little harder this game and guard him,” Green said. “So, it was good. I appreciate him for showing me that because I think I was in La-la Land before he showed me that and it just immediately pissed me off.”
Umm, what?? Green basically said that Porzingis hasn’t earned the right to say he’s ready for him.
“I like the passion, I like the dog that he has, I like that you want to see me again, but keep that to yourself,” Green said. “Don’t let everybody know that you’re going after me. So I guess we’re going to go after each other and that’s fine. I think he’s a great player. I think he will continue to get better and better, but that made it real personal.”
Draymond legit makes no sense with any of this. He basically did all of that to psych himself out into feeling like he was slighted, when that was nowhere near the case. Regardless, it definitely worked for Green, because Porzingis had one of his worst games of the season, finishing with just eight points and looking timid at times.
Whatever works I guess.
