“I think there’s a reason why attitudes about my presidency among whites in Northern states are very different from whites in Southern state. Are there folks whose primary concern about me has been that I seem foreign, the other? Are those who champion the ‘birther’ movement feeding off of bias? Absolutely.”

He also got a chance to speak on Donald Trump saying he had a “pretty troubling and not necessarily connected to facts.” Obama’s former senior adviser David Axelrod agreed saying,

“It’s indisputable that there was a ferocity to the opposition and a lack of respect to him that was a function of race.”

Obama supporters agreed with him saying,

The majority of GOP devoted 8 years to making Obama seem foreign, “other”. I HATE them. Donald Trump came out of that swamp.

Another person tweeted,

Thank you for speaking the truth @POTUS #Racism is what elected #Trump
