Hot 97’s Ebro Darden has some history with Rae Sremmurd. At the end of 2015, Complex listed the duo’s debut album, SremmLife, as the third best album of the year – a spot that didn’t sit right with Ebro. In an interview with the makers of the list, he said the guys were dope but in no way deserved to be number 3, particularly because, according to him, they don’t write their own rhymes. It’s been on ever since.

This week, the duo’s single “Black Beatles” hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks largely in part to it being the unofficial song of the Mannequin Challenge. It’s a win either way, but Ebro had to make sure to note on Twitter that it wasn’t all by itself. Check out the back and forth that ensued from there in the gallery. Even Ebro’s other fav, Lil Yachty, got in on the fun!
