The nephew of Steven Avery, Brendan Dassey is finally about to be released from prison. Back in August we found out that it was going to happen but there were a few things that had to be squared away first, especially being that there was an appeal going on. We now see that the judge has officially Okayed the release but with a few fine prints.
Dassey is not allowed to leave the eastern part of Wisconsin, can’t obtain a passport, and can’t possess weapons or controlled substances. He has also been ordered to have zero contact with his uncle Stephen Avery or the family of the victim, Teresa Halbach. By Tuesday he is to provide the judge with an official address as to where he will be living.
Dassey’s conviction had been overturned as a judge claimed prosecutors violated his constitutional rights. At just 16, Dassey was interrogated without an adult present. The Wisconsin Attorney General appealed the decision, which left him to stay behind bars. Now Dassey is set to be a free man.
Dassey was sent to prison after they thought he was an accomplice in the murder of Teresa Halbach. I mean it’s only right that Dassey follows the terms and conditions. Being a free man is way better than staring at those jail walls all day.
