A New York teen by the name of Chase T. Coleman was attacked while running a cross-country race. The 15-year-old got lost as he was running and encoutered a 57-year-old.
Witness Collin Thompson was also running when he noticed Coleman getting attacked by the man. The man got out of his car, shoved Coleman to the ground and told him to “get out of here.” When interviewed by police, the man said he thought he was going to get mugged being that his car had recently got broken in to. He also felt some type of way that Coleman did not respond to him upon asking him to leave the road but the young man is autistic and non-verbal. October 21, Judge Caroline Morrison of Rochester City Court denied the warrant application to press second-degree assault charges. Coleman’s mother states this is because her son is black and autistic.
