Em returns the favor after Kendrick praised him for giving him clarity as a young artist.
During his interview with Rick Rubin and GQ, Kendrick said on Eminem:
“The clarity, I got my clarity just studying Eminem when I was a kid”
This passed October 22nd was the four year anniversary of Kendrick’s major label debut album, good kid m.A.A.d City, and fans were writing what it meant to them. Em joined in on Genius and wrote this:
When I first heard Kendrick’s debut on Aftermath, I couldn’t believe it. The fact that it was his first real album and he was able to make it into a story which intertwines with the skits like that was genius. That hasn’t really been done that many times, let alone on someone’s first time up. The level of wordplay, the deliveries, the beats—it’s just a masterpiece.
Eminem just dropped a new song “Campaign Speech” and literally demolished every word in the dictionary, and said he’s working on a new album. I can only wonder if Kendrick’s gonna be on it…
