After creating hit records for 20 years now, Jay-Z has become the first rapper to be nominated for a spot in the songwriter’s hall of fame! Hit the jump to find out who else is up for greatness.
Songwriters become eligible for the Hall of Fame once their career has spanned 20 years, and 1996 was the year his debut album ‘Reasonable Doubt’ dropped. I mean you know all of Jay’s hits by now I don’t have to list them and if you really don’t you better ask somebody!!
Other artists who are up for the nomination are George Michael, Madonna, Bryan Adams, Vince Gill, Babyface, Max Martin and Kool & the Gang. After voters turn in their official ballots in November, the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held June 15 in New York City.
