Hard to watch. The recent controversial arresting of a black man in Minnesota for “walking in the middle of the street” has now led to the city apologizing for the officer’s reaction. Watch the video below.
The mayor and City Council of Edina, Minnesota, have publicly apologized for a videotaped altercation between a white police officer and a black man that recently went viral. This video was from last Wednesday and shows Thomas’ being held by his jacket by an officer in plain clothes. The victim said he was avoiding sidewalk construction that’s why he was walking in the road, when the officer grabbed him by following “protocol”.
Thomas removed his jacket to evade the officer’s grasp until another officer arrived and arrested him with a disturbing the peace charge. The charge has since been dropped and now they’re finally admitting we need police reform:
