Yesterday it was reported that judge in the civil rape case against Derrick Rose may declare a mistrial due to evidence (important text messages) his accuser withheld from the defense. Today, however, the judge ruled that the case will go on.
The judge previously said he did not want to declare a mistrial because the case would likely be brought again in the middle of the NBA season, which would severely inconvenience Rose.
Today the judge indeed ruled that he will not declare a mistrial. He said the accuser’s team didn’t fully comply in her duty to provide evidence to the other side and will give Rose’s team the opportunity to put the accuser back on the stand to grill her about the text messages in question.
