Carolina Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert says he took his 75 Caprice to Motion Lab Tuning to do a motor swap.  Tolbert says he was quoted a price and given a 10 day completion time frame.  He says two and a half months later, and the work still isn’t done, plus they upped the price because he’s “a millionaire.”  Well, things escalated from there.

Tolbert posted his experience on his Instagram page and warned others about doing business there.

The owner of the shop fired back with a Facebook post, saying Tolbert wanted the work done for free because of his NFL status.  Motion Lab also says Tolbert and his friend threatened them and that’s why they called the police.  The cops ordered Tolbert to pay his bill before banning him from the property, so Tolbert went to the bank and paid in coins!

“Pretty dumb really. All $3,900 in coins were easily identifiable as they came from a bank in boxes and perfectly counted out. I will say this, those coins will be taken in the boxes they came in and will be taken to a teller at BOA for deposit.”

Later on, Tolbert spoke to TMZ Sports and said he tried to pay with a check, but the shop said they would only take cash, which is when he went to the bank and got the money (coins).  Tolbert also says he never threatened anybody, but firmly believes he was intentionally overcharged by more than $1,000 because he’s an NFL player.  He says the car still isn’t running correctly and he’ll take it to another shop for more repairs.  He also says the shop needs to stop slandering him or he’ll consider taking legal action.

So I read a few comments from both pages and on the Facebook page, customers were disappointed in Tolbert and said they never had issues with Motion Lab.  On Tolbert’s Instagram page, there were also people who said they didn’t have issues with the shop but others shared their own horror stories.
