Robert Griffin III’s wife, Rebecca Liddicoat, says he blindsided her when he filed for divorce, but according to RG3’s petition, they do not get along and there’s no hope for reconciliation.
People were shocked to discover Griffin began dating Florida State track star, Grete Šadeiko, but they met back in January, roughly seven months after his wife gave birth to their daughter. The relationship began through Instagram DM’s and quickly turned real. Griffin and Liddicoat separated shortly after she found out in April and haven’t lived together since, but Rebecca was still trying to save the marriage. Many have harassed Griffin and his new girlfriend, calling them cheaters and her a homewrecker, but Griffin took to his Instagram account and said his marriage was already over prior to their relationship.
In the petition, Griffin stated the reason for the divorce:
“The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities between petitioner and respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.”
He doesn’t list their date of separation but said they’re not living together and their daughter is living with Liddicoat some 50 miles away from their $2.2 million former family home. He said he wants them both appointed as “joint managing conservators” of the daughter, but wants his wife to have primary custody. The 26-year-old also agreed to pay child support but doesn’t specify how much.
Griffin expects he and Liddicoat to make a deal out of court to divide up their property, but will ask the court to enforce their prenup if they’re unable to come to an agreement.
Liddicoat, meanwhile, has yet to respond to Griffin’s filing.
