The NBA season still feels like it just ended but the 2016-17 season will be tipping off only about a month from now. Teams such as the Thunder already held their media day and for the first time in many years, the franchise faces uncertain questions heading into the season.

They always knew they would be title contenders with the dynamic duo of Kevin Durant & Russell Westbrook but as we all know, KD choose to go to Golden State in the offseason, creating a huge shift of power in the league. The topic of KD’s & Russ’ friendship has been on the minds of fans all summer, with KD saying on a couple different occasions, including this week on the HBO show “Any Given Wednesday” that he and Russell are still cool.

During media day, Russ was asked the very same question:

Feels a little petty on his part because he could’ve said they are still cool. The reporter didn’t ask if they had spoken since Durant’s decision, he only asked how he felt about Durant saying they were still cool.

Russ just seems really locked in for this year and for good reason but I think it’s safe to say these guys will still be close friends in time. They went through too much together for the friendship to fizzle out, although it may never be the same as it was.

In somewhat related news, Enes Kanter took another jab at KD, which he has done already this summer. He was asked about Russ being their leader this season and he was quick to say “Russ was our leader last season too”.
