Allen Iverson was recently inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, so everyone has been looking back on his career. Though he’s known for his cultural affect on the game, what many people remember is the iconic moment he had against Michael Jordan.
During Iverson’s rookie year, he had a HUGE moment when he crossed up Michael Jordan. Iverson said he didn’t really think much of the crossover until it blew up with responses and was replayed on ESPN.
“It was a special moment in my career because that was my idol, that was my favorite. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have ever been a basketball player,” Iverson said on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “I would never have had the vision. I truly wanted to be like Mike.”
He says even five- and six-year-old kids still come up to him and say “you’re the guy that crossed up Michael Jordan aren’t you”
