Bobby Shmurda filed a lawsuit against the NYPD shortly after he was arrested on multiple charges in 2014, accusing police of falsely arresting him. He alleged that he was targeted because of his anti-police music, and the arresting officers had a vendetta against him for a run-in from the year prior. He added that they lied about what went down and neither the gun or drugs found were his.

Shmurda was looking for damages caused by the wrongful arrest, along with compensation for mental anguish. However, he’s now dropped the suit all together in lieu of the plea deal he just copped to.
As part of the deal, Shmurda will serve 7 years – but he can be out in as early as 3.5 years from now with time served and good behavior. He will also have 5 years of probation following his release.
