When Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors in free agency, there was a lot of speculation about his relationship with Russell Westbrook. Numerous sources led to several reports about their relationship turning sour and Durant himself said their relationship would probably never be the same again. During a Nike event at the University of Texas in Austin on Friday, Durant was asked again about the apparently interesting question.

Said Durant: “We’re still cool. We’re going to compete against each other at the highest level. We’re gonna have fun against each other. We’re still cool.”

Upon signing his extension with the Thunder on Aug. 4, Westbrook said “we’ve been together eight years. You don’t throw that away. “Obviously he’s now with a new team. But we definitely will talk. Eventually. But, obviously, now we haven’t.”
The Thunder and Warriors meet just five games into the season for both teams: Nov. 5 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.
