NBA legend Kobe Bryant was blessed with his very own day in Los Angeles rightfully on August 24 (8/24), the two numbers he wore during his 20 years with the LA Lakers.
Bryant says it’s a “huge blessing and a huge honor” to have 8/24 deemed “Kobe Bryant Day in Los Angeles and gave a heartfelt speech to his friends, family and fans at L.A. City Hall.
“I never ever thought that this day would ever be possible,” Bryant told the purple and gold wearing crowd.
Bryant also addressed his wife Vanessa who is pregnant with a baby girl, and his two daughters Gianna and Natalia, telling them it would be their responsibility to tell their soon-to-be-born little sister about how good their dad was and why he has his own day.
“She’s gonna have no idea I was actually okay at playing basketball.”
