Over 2 million Twitter users have participated in the challenge, and because of this, sales of the original song have increased in a major way.

Per Apple Music, streams of the song have have increased by 233% and sales have gone up 407% since August 10. Per Spotify, streams have increased 129% and per YouTube, views of the video have gone up 309% compared to the three days before the challenge. The MonicaVEVO channel has also seen a 15.5% increase in viewership.
