Antonio Cromartie’s mother put him on front street, claiming he is trying to evict her from the Florida home he bought her back in 2007. Well his wife, Terricka Cromartie, explained what’s really going on.
Antonio Cromartie’s little sister LaQuinta Gardner said their mother was served with an eviction notice this past Thursday and needed to be out the house by August 15, unless she paid a check for $2,310.
Gardner says the family is pissed at Cromartie who bought the house and paid for everything for years but stopped in February and asked his mother to pay the $700 per/month mortgage bill. His mother reportedly refused, and insisted Cromartie pay it since the house was supposed to be a gift, and he made millions in the NFL.
A rep for Antonio told TMZ Sports, “His mother has been paying the mortgage on the house since 2011. That’s the deal they have in place. It wasn’t until June that she refused to make any payments.”
The rep said Antonio’s children are his priority financially and he adamantly believes his mother and her husband have the funds to support themselves.
Gardner, his sister, set up a GoFundMe page asking for $100K for her mother.
Now Antonio’s wife Terricka Cromartie posted a text message from Antonio’s mother to him. In the caption, Terricka explained what’s really going on.
Terricka says his mother received $60,000 from a car insurance claim. She says on top of that, Antonio’s mother and her husband, make a combined $10,000 a month, and they recently closed on a new house. She says his mother is a liar, that they have enough money to pay the mortgage but insist Antonio pay it.
Antonio Cromartie has 13 kids, that is a lot of mouths to feed and he’s currently unemployed, as he’s a free agent and no team has signed him yet. A lot of athletes go broke because friends and family bleed them dry. I personally believe Cromartie did his part for his mother and she’s financially stable enough to finish the payments. She has to think about her son and her grandkids.
The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
