D’Angelo Russell became public enemy #1 when he violated “bro code” and recorded Nick Young admitting to cheating on Iggy Azalea. The video accidentally went public and subsequently viral. Iggy eventually broke up with Nick after more proof of his infidelities, including getting his baby mother Keonna Green pregnant again. Nick initially wasn’t very receptive to D’Angelo’s apology but now he’s willing to work past the incident.
“We’re teammates,” Young told the LA Daily News. “It’s been so long, so it’s kind of old.
“We’ll be able to work it out. We’ve already been working it out. It is what it is. I can’t be mad forever.”
Young even chuckled about Russell’s recent Foot Locker commercial with Philadelphia No. 1 pick Ben Simmons. In the ad, after Simmons asks Russell for advice on his rookie season, Russell takes Simmons’ phone and throws it toward the ocean.
In apparent sarcasm, Young reacted by tweeting: “real funny.”
More than a month later, it appears Young found some humor in the incident.
“I need my commercial now,” Young said, laughing. “I’ll explain what happened to my life.”
Nick’s life isn’t going so well right now. Aside from the breakup, the Lakers are reportedly trying to give him the boot as well. After unsuccessfully trying to trade him, there’s a possibility they’ll buy out his two-year contract worth $11 million before training camp starts in late September.
Despite all that, Nick is still sporting his infamous smile. He’s alive, healthy, rich and has his son; it ain’t all bad.
