On Sunday night Usain Bolt won the gold medal for the men’s 100m race at the Rio Olympics. Bolt became the first Olympian to win the 100m race at three Olympics, winning in 2008, 2012 and 2016. Bolt has earned the title of the fastest man in the world and shone a great light on Jamaica. It’s no doubt that Bolt is well known, but Bob Costas went a bit too far in saying Bolt had surpassed Bob Marley in popularity.
“With apologies to all you reggae fans, I think Bolt has even outdistanced Marley,” Costas said on NBC after Bolt won his third consecutive Olympic gold medal in the 100 meter dash.
Twitter wasn’t having it and immediately went in on Costas.

In an interview with Costas, Bolt said he was honored by the comparison.
