Australian Swimmer Kyle Chalmers is in Rio with the same hopes as every Olympian, which is to win a medal. In Chalmers case however, he was also in Rio with the hopes of meeting his favorite basketball player, Kevin Durant. Not only did he get to meet KD but he also received a video message of support from Durant and all of the excitement had Chalmers ready to lose his lunch.

“Last night I was walking over to my semi-finals and Kevin Durant walked in front of me,” Chalmers told the Sydney Morning Herald. “To be honest with you I almost vomited. My jaw dropped. I was that excited and nervous.”
Chalmers claims he watches Durant’s memorable MVP speech from 2014 before he has any big race. Australia’s team manager was the one who approached KD about recording a video message but it turns out they couldn’t show it to him until after his race.
“They actually had to show it to me this morning because they knew I wouldn’t be able to focus if I saw it tonight before my race – I’m a big fan,” Chalmers said.
Making all of this better is the fact Chalmers went out there and won his race, winning the Gold in the 100 meter freestyle.
