The $20 Million Lil Wayne is seeking from Cash Money’s parent Company, Universal Music Group, may not be making it’s way into Lil Wayne’s pockets so soon. His lawsuit against them has been put on hold and it’s all because of one man.
Birdman once again is the one holding Lil Wayne back from financial freedom of getting allll the money he’s entitled to. A federal court judge ruled that Wayne has to resolve his lawsuit with Birdman first, before he can move forward suing UMG because the cases are too similiar.
Wayne’s case against UMG consists of him believing the company has screwed him out of royalties by the company taking money that was owed to him and funneling it back to itself in order to pay off Birdman and Cash Money’s debt.
His ordeal with Birdman is ALOT bigger. Wayne is suing his “daddy” for $51 Million, claiming he too screwed him out of royalties, money he’s owed for discovering giant superstars like Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Tyga, and also his Tha Carter V album advance (which is on hold because of all of this). Weezy claims he was only paid $2 million up front instead of the $10 million promised and is now seeking much much more.
We’ll see how this one plays out, but it’s not looking up right now for Wayne, at least for a while.
