In a video, we see drivers getting surprised by officers with ice cream cones. The officers pull the driver over for violating “vehicle code 1739.” The nervous driver states she has no idea what that means which is when the officer tells her its when people drive on a hot day without an ice cream cone.
The woman and her passenger immediately bust out laughing. Chief of Police Kevin Lands, who recorded the video, posted to Facebook saying,
All I can say is wow. What a response we have seen at the Halifax Police Department over our video of the ice cream traffic stops. Over 223,000 views and 8,000 shares in just one day. I have been contacted by people and news media from all around the United States. It’s official…..we are the Ice Cream Cops. Lol
Warner, one of five officers total in the Halifax Police Department, released a statement saying,
“Her reaction was absolutely the best. It was genuine, and she had us smiling and laughing for a good hour afterwards, and I’ve probably watched the video myself 50 times just laughing. That’s one of the great things with police work you get to meet people like that on a daily basis, and it makes the job worth it.”
