5 Years ago today the world stood still when news was announced of the passing of Amy Winehouse. Her death was caused by alcohol poisoning. She was discovered in her Camden Town home in North London. In the short 27 years of her life Winehouse accomplished so much in her career. In total she racked in an outstanding 25 awards, 7 of which were Grammy’s! The multi Grammy Award winning singer passed away at an early age, just 27. On July, 23rd, 2011 Amy was discovered unconsious in her home in North London. At the time of her death controversy arose as to how her death came about. Many quickly jumped to say it was an drug overdose. At the time many speculated that the artist struggled with addictions from many drugs. However, this turned out to be false as toxicology screenings reports proved otherwise.
With all that Amy had going on in her life she still managed to touch the lives of millions. Till this day her legacy lives on and her music still soars. Two of her 7 total Grammy’s were awarded to her after her passing. In her last interview via MTV, Amy goes over music, media scrutiny, her alchoholic behavior, and speaks on if whether or not she was going to be in an upcoming James Bond movie.
