Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was arrested for assault Sunday in East Lansing.
via MLive:
The details of Green’s arrest are unknown at this time.
“The police department is not confirming any arrest with that name,” said Lt. Scott Wrigglesworth, the East Lansing police department Public Information Officer. “What I can confirm is that we did arrest a current NBA basketball player this weekend and he was arrested for assault. That’s all we’re confirming right now.”
Green has 10 days to return to East Lansing and be arraigned on the charge in the city’s attorney office. His arrest report is not yet available online.
I will update when I receive more information.
Green is from Michigan and attended Michigan State University. He was selected to represent the United States in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Last summer he agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Warriors worth $85 million, after winning his first championship with the team.
This past season Green averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 34.7 minutes per game in 2015-16. Green made a name for himself during the playoffs as being aggressive and a “dirty player” after hitting several opponents below the waistline. Warriors however fell short of a repeat and lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.
