The shirt originally belonged to a man by the name of Jay Hastings, a concierge that worked in the building right where John Lennon was shot on December 8, 1980. Jay wrapped his white shirt around Lennon’s back-wounds trying to stop the bleeding but, like we all know, the famous Beatle died that night.
At first, the shirt was being sold for $9,000. It’s not surprising to find out that the price got jacked up to $40,000 in an instant.
