Thousands of Japanese protestors gather outside to protest the relocation of the U.S. base to Okinawa.
Its obvious that the Japanese don’t want the U.S. airbase moved to Okinawa and they are in fact protesting it to see if they will actually remove or relocate the base to a different place. This isn’t the first time they protested. They protested back in July as well for the same reason. This is coming after the arrest of the American base worker in connection to the murder of a 20-year old local woman.
Okinawa’s anti-base governor Takeshi Onaga says he regrets having no power in preventing any crimes by the U.S. servicemen. Professor at Temple University in Tokyo says the people are just frustrated.
“I think they just feel so frustrated,” said Jeff, “These protests are not just going to go away.”
