63-year-old William Powell was shot and killed by police after they showed up at the wrong house. Powell was an Air Force veteran and father or three. He was shot in the neck by a Henery County police officer Wednesday morning. Police were responding to a 911 call about hearing gunshots in the neighborhood. Police say they identified themselves and when Powell, who was holding a handgun, did not comply to put down his weapon, they fired.

Powell’s sister, Wanda, disputes reports that cops identified themselves, asked him to put his gun down or even had on their patrol lights.⠀⠀⠀

“The dogs started barking, someone outside. He grabbed his gun and walked outside. As soon as he did, he was shot in the neck.”
Wanda posted that to her Facebook Thursday evening.
According to the investigation of the 911 call, the officers were at the wrong location. The three officers ended up responding to the correct house — eventually. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The officer who shot Powell was placed on administrative leave.
