To many New Yorkers disbelief, talk of cutting New York City’s food pantry and kitchen budget is more of a reality then we think. Mayor de Blasio wants to slash 1.8 million dollars from last years budget amount of about 11 million dollars.
According to Food Bank for New York City “1.4 million New Yorkers over the course of a year turn to soup kitchens some regularly, same episodically when they have an emergency or crisis and don’t have food on the table to get them through” If the budget is not reinstated many New Yorkers will be left hungry. In other words as DJ Khaled would say “They” don’t want us to eat!
