The Cleveland Cavaliers are gearing up for a NBA Finals rematch against the Golden State Warriors. LeBron James spoke to the media during practice for Game 1 and issued high praise for his opponents, mainly the Splash Brothers of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
“They shoot the ball extremely well. I mean, Klay and Steph are probably the two greatest shooters we’ve ever seen, obviously in today’s game they are,” said James. “Some of the shots [they make], there’s nothing you can do about it. Better offense beats great defense every day, that’s always been the case in basketball. You have to be able to do other things to stop them. It’s hard to contain them, the whole league knows that but we have a gameplan and have to stick to it.”
Later, he reiterated the statement with, “You can’t match 3-pointers with those guys. Like I said, Klay and Steph are the best shooters in the world.”
Stephen Curry set an NBA record of 402 three-pointers this season, eclipsing the record he set last year of 286. The Warriors together lead the league in three-point shooting this season and topped the Thunder when they started hitting a barrage of threes. While LeBron may be right that you can’t match three-pointers with them, the Cavaliers are actually the three-point leaders so far in the playoffs.
