Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder is tonight. Two of the best point guards in the game in Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook will face off. While the job of guarding Westbrook might be passed off to Klay Thompson (who’s a better defender), Westbrook will no doubt be on Curry, the greatest shooter in the game. Westbrook however is never one to show fear and he had an interesting response to a question about the task he’s faced with.
“He’s a shooter,” Westbrook said of Curry. “He’s not nothing I haven’t seen. Him, (Damian) Lillard, guys like that who can shoot the basketball from four or five feet behind the three (point line), you’ve got to do a little different job, just be physical.”
Curry has averaged 35 points in the Warriors’ three wins against the Thunder this season, including a buzzer-beating 37-footer in overtime on Feb. 27.
Curry dropped 40 points and 29 points respectively in his two-games back from a knee sprain that kept him out for four games. Though he may not be at 100%, even a mildly hobbled Curry is still dangerous.
