Last night, Drake hit the studio with French Montana. Not a lot of people may know this, but Drake has actually been a LONG time French fan, way before he shot to fame in 2009 with “Best I Ever Had.” Actually, here’s a fun story – I created and ran French’s Twitter for him from late 08 into 09, and noticed a then-bubbling Drake was following him. I called French like, “Yo – Drake follows you! You gotta reach out!” and he gave me the okay, so I DM’d him from French’s page and he sent his number. We texted (me as French, lol) and he said he was landing in NY the next day, so he made plans with French and Max B to meet up and do a song. When the time came, French had gotten caught up in something, so despite me BEGGING him not to, he had to cancel and asked to reschedule – but the reschedule never came from Drizzy. (It was April 09 at the time – I know because I STILL have the text in my iPhone. I mean, it’s Drake…LOL) Clearly, they’ve made it work since then, however.
