Big Sean’s been at work on his “Dark Sky Paradise” follow up album, his untitled fourth solo album. Now he gives some insight on his approach to this project and his overall message. Sounds like we’re watching Sean Anderson grow as an artist as we speak.
Big Sean sat down with XXL for his cover story in their Spring 2016 issue to reveal:
“When I first started making my album, I was just making music off feeling, not thinking about it, then I started thinking, ‘What the f**k do I want to say? What do I want to do now?’ I came up with something that struck a chord with me.”
He also spoke on Jhene Aiko, saying collaborating with her is pretty much natural and they have good chemistry:
“It feels like I’m making music with one of my friends. It’s on the same level as just how making music with Kanye. It feels comfortable with her in the studio.”
He than spoke on another relationship…his bond with his mother and how his lifestyle has taken somewhat of a toll on it:
“One of the things I talk about on the album is being a better son. I would talk to my mom and she’d say, ‘I haven’t talked to you in weeks.’ I realized you gotta embrace your business and your work but you can’t let it take over you.”
Sounds like we’re gonna be getting some of that classic Sean soul rap soon! Check XXL for the full story.
