Out of the three GOP candidates currently running for President it seems like John Kasich is the only one with a set a brains (yet he’s losing badly in the polls, smh). Check out how he tackles the question “Are people born gay?” Now, it’s not a perfect answer but he says a whole lot coming from a Republican.

John Kasich’s main point out of the controversial question is to not discriminate, point blank period. He personally doesn’t agree with gay marriage but he never wants anyone to discriminate against gay people. He also doesn’t want gays to judge anyone based on their religious beliefs. So, it’s a two way street for him. He even mentions that he and his wife went to a “buddy’s” gay wedding recently.
The questioner also criticized him for being under the umbrella of religious people and the Republican Party as a whole, considering that they are the biggest opposers of LGBTQ community. Kasich says,
Republicans:
“They don’t tell me what to do by the platform. The Republican Party is my vehicle not my master.”
Religious folks:
“Sometimes people say they’re religious…Just because I say that I’m a Ford Falcon, doesn’t make me one.”
Now he did have some weak moments. While he did say people are probably born gay, he wasn’t sure and doesn’t really know ( I appreciate the honesty though), and saw no interest in finding out for himself to get a better understanding rather than remaining ignorant. Also, he says it’s not a big enough controversy or issue for him to support the signing of a federal law that would provoke huge changes, when it does become more of an issue he will. I think thats far from the truth considering that this debate is such a growing issue but hey…beggars can’t be choosers. At least a GOP member isn’t spewing hate and acknowledges the fact that being gay probably isn’t a lifestyle one could just choose.
