The University of Mississippi is trying to do some serious damage control today after former Ole Miss player, now Miami Dolphin, Laremy Tunsil, admitted he took money from coaches while still in college, which obviously is a big problem for the school.

During his press conference after finally being drafted #13 by the Dolphins, Tunsil spoke on his twitter being hacked as well as his Instagram. The post on IG were screenshots that showed him texting back and forth with a coach talking about paying his bills and helping his mother.

Initially he said the posts were fake but he turned right around and said they were true. When asked if there was an exchange between him and a coach for money, he replied “I would have to say yes”.

As you might expect, that small comment sent shockwaves through the media and Ole Miss replied with the following statement:

“The university is aware of the reports from the NFL Draft regarding Laremy Tunsil and potential NCAA violations during his time at Ole Miss,” a statement from the school began. “Like we do whenever an allegation is brought to our attention or a potential violation is self-discovered, we will aggressively investigate and fully cooperate with the NCAA and the SEC.”

The 2016 early draft entrant missed the first seven games of the 2015 season as “it was determined by the NCAA that Tunsil received impermissible extra benefits that included the use of three separate loaner vehicles over a sixth-month period without payment, a four-month interest-free promissory note on a $3,000 down payment for purchasing a used vehicle, two nights of lodging at a local home, an airline ticket purchased by a friend of a teammate, and one day use of a rental vehicle.”

It sounds like some red flags were already there regarding Tunsil, the school and money but now that he is in the NFL, the NCAA can’t touch him but the school may suffer for a few years to come.
