Demi Lovato & Nick Jonas become the two latest pop stars to cancel concerts in the state of North Carolina, after the state has a strict anti-LGBT law. Some legendary acts have taken a stand against this as well including Bruce Springsteen, Foo Fighters, & even Ringo Starr. Many others have agreed to play there but only if they donate the proceeds.
“After much thought and deliberation, we have decided to cancel our Honda Civic: Future Now shows in Raleigh and Charlotte,” Nick shared in a message on Twitter. “One of our goals for the tour have always been to create an atmosphere where every single attendee feels equal, included, and accepted for who they are.”
They believe the exact law is called HB2, which forbids cities in North Carolina from setting their own anti-discrimination ordinances beyond those of the state, bans cities from raising their minimum wages and stops people from being able to sue for discrimination claims in state court. Crazy world we live in.
