Following the Golden State Warriors 121-94 win over the Houston Rockets in game 4, an international reporter started to ask Draymond Green a bizarre question correlating the Warriors success to the recent Houston floods.
“Draymond, here’s an interesting question.” The reporter said to start his question. “So last year you visit [Houston], Game 3 there’s no flood, you win. Game 4, there was flood, you lose. This year you visit [Houston], Game 3 there’s a flood, you lose. Game 4, there’s no flood, you win. Does that mean…?”
Green then cut the reporter off before he finished his question.
“You’re trying to get a controversial statement out of me.” Green answered the reporter. “But you’re not because I feel sorry for the people of Houston. People are losing their homes, losing their cars, losing their lives, losing loved ones, and you’re trying to get a controversial statement out of me … you’re not getting that out of me.”
Green has been criticized in the past for his responses but he was totally right in this situation. Whatever the reporter was trying to say, the Houston floods should not have been brought up. People have lost everything including their lives; in no way should it be compared or have any correlation to a basketball game.
