Authorities have just found a tunnel that runs from Tijuana to San Diego. The tunnel was filled with drugs such as cocaine and marijuana. There was 1 ton of cocaine found and 7 tons of marijuana.
This tunnel is considered the 13th most sophisticated passage way found a lot California’s border with Mexico since 2006. The tunnel is three feet wide and is equipped with lighting, ventilation, and also a rail station. Laura Duffy, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of California says, it is quote unusual that this tunnel is used for cocaine. Tunnels are usually just made for marijuana due to the fact that it has such a strong odor which makes it difficult to get past border inspectors.
The tunnel was found through a home in Tijuana which had a huge elevator in it. The elevator was big enough for 8-10 people to fit on it. It was located in the closet of the home. Whoever made this was super crafty.
