Deputy Superintendent at the Chicago PD John Escalante, released a statement saying,

“The subject, who is deceased, shot by police, did bail from the car that led to a foot pursuit. I believe only one officer actually participated in the foot pursuit.”

18-year-old Regina McKinney says she has known Loury since grade school and does not believe he had a gun.

“I know (Loury) well enough to know he wasn’t like that. You know what I think it was? A case of mistaken identity. They saw him running, and they chased him. Of course if you see the police roll up on you, nine times out of 10, you’re going to run.”

The police officer who shot Loury has been put on administrative leave until the s=investigation of the shooting is over.
