It’s no surprise that Donald Trump plans to stop illegal immigrants from coming to the U.S. by building a wall if he becomes President. The question is how will he get the money to do this? Apparently he thinks he will get Mexico to pay for this.
Trump says he will get Mexico to pay for the wall by threatening to cut off billions of dollars in money transfers that Mexicans who currently live in the United States send to their family back home. He says,
“Mexico currently receive $24 billion in remittance payments annually from the United States. This provides substantial leverage for the United States to obtain from Mexico the funds necessary to pay for a border wall.”
He says he will change a rule that is currently under the Patriot Act that will cut off money Mexico receives through wire transfers. If Mexico says that they will make a one time payment, Trump will not go forward with the rule change.
“It’s an easy decision for Mexico: make a one-time payment of $5-10 billion to ensure that $24 billion continues to flow into their country year after year,”
Crazy! America please do me one favor. Do not let this man into office.
