Robert Horry managed to get himself more championship rings than Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and a ton of other greats. He has seven rings to brag about, although you can argue he didn’t play much of a role in a couple of them but either way, so what? When you win that many titles that means you played with some great players and he damn sure did. He won rings with Olajuwon, Kobe & Duncan but when it comes to the last two guys, he seems to have a favorite.

From 1997-03, Horry and Bryant were teammates with the Los Angeles Lakers, where the duo won three championships. Horry then went to San Antonio, where he played with Duncan from 2003-08 and won two more rings. Clearly he spent those years playing with the best in the game and you would think he appreciates each the same but from the sounds of it, he doesn’t.
Horry was asked which star would he rather have on his team and his surprising response was “Am I trying to win a championship or am I trying to fill seats?”
While he never mentioned names, it’s easy to decipher he is referring to Duncan when talking about winning championships and talking about Kobe in regards to selling tickets. Since both Timmy and Kobe have five rings, you have to assume maybe Horry isn’t a big fan of Kobe on a personal level.
He also said coach Popovich is a better coach than Phil Jackson because he treats everyone the same, regardless of status.
Maybe he just really loves the Spurs organization.
