Otto Warmbier is a 21-year old student from the University of Virginia and has been detained in North Korea since January. White House spokesman Josh Earnest said it was “increasingly clear” that North Korea sought to use U.S. citizens as pawns to pursue a political agenda. On Wednesday, the unaware student was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor. Watch below as Otto pleads with the North Korean government for mercy.
