Looks like the Seattle duo will debut at no. 4 on the Billboard charts as well as selling a total of 61,000 copies for their long awaited album (sales plus streaming).
This is definitely a dip from their previous effort The Heist, which sold 78,000 copies and debuted at no. 2 on the charts. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have no record label behind them, besides their hardcore fan base. Still, after amassing such success from their first album, I think ‘This Unruly Mess I’ve Made’ should still have cracked 100,000 copies first week.
But hey, this was a different type of album with no radio singles that they’re known for like “Thrift Shop” or “Can’t Hold Us”, except for “Downtown” and you can’t count it out yet. ‘The Heist’ only did 78k first week and went on to sell over 1,000,000 copies. Will ‘This Unruly Mess I’ve’ Made have the same fate?
