Steve Kerr was part of the famous 1995-96 Bulls team who set the single season win record of 72 on their way to an NBA championship. If he gets his way, that record might still stand despite his current team of the Warriors being in prime position to rewrite history. As a coach he values rest for his guys more than a record that nobody will care about if they don’t win the title as well.

The Warriors are 55-5 with 22 games to go and about half of those games are against team with losing records so the odds of them breaking the record are very strong. Kerr realizes that if the Warriors break the Bulls record but don’t win it all that it will all be for not. With that said he is currently focused on resting his players for the stretch run instead of focusing on 73 wins.
“Resting, that will take precedence,” Kerr said on Thursday per Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports. “We will rest guys if they need it before we will go for any kind of streak or record, that’s for sure.”
Dubs guard extraordinaire Stephen Curry wasn’t exactly surprised by Kerr’s stance saying, “That is how I assumed he would handle it. Obviously, the big picture is always the most important trying to win a championship.”
Kerr might be saying this for now but if within the final few weeks of the season the Warriors are in position to go for the record I have a hard time seeing him denying them a chance.
